LynnNChicago Watch What Happens Live Oct 28, 2010

LynnNChicago   Watch What Happens Live  Air Date Oct 28, 2010
Host:     Andy Cohen
Guests:                Lisa Vanderpump
Nate Berkus  aka Oprah's Main Gay Man
Andy seemed less anxious and nervous tonight, he started out by revealing the poll question asking who was the hottest Beverly Hills husband.  I know how you all find Kelsey Grammer hot hot hot but sorry ladies, he didn't win.  Kyle's husband took top prize.

The show was light and fun, Lisa seems to be a natural for television and Andy revealed why in his three thing's that he's obsessed with this week.
Lisa was a member of the cast of the old show "Silk Stalkings" and Lisa reacted as if mortified but really wasn't all that sorry that Andy broke the news to viewers.
Andy's second obsession was Atlanta's Phaedra Park's baby shower hosted by Dwight, Cohen agreed with the majority of us, it was Da-Weird adding, "isn't there an easier way to get a diaper genie?"  Good one Andy!
Finally Andy used his third obsession to plug his upcoming appearance on The Women of Saturday Night Live which will air this coming Monday on NBC.  Andy is spoofing his own reunion shows as the ladies of SNL transform into one of the housewives and reenact a reunion episode.  It should
be funny!
Throughout the episode they revealed a Housewives Scary Moment, marked by the lights going down and strobe lights flashing with thunder sounds creating that cheap haunted house feel. Following this moment, Andy threw a clip of a housewives episode that he considered scary.  Surprisingly not one glimpse of Kelly Bensimon was anywhere to be found.  I guess Andy was going for "funny" scary rather than truly mind blowing scary.
The Watch What Happens Live team came up with four different Housewives scary scenes starting with Taylor of Beverly Hills getting big ole welts when her temples were injected by Adrienne's husband and plastic surgeon.   Nope, not scary but definitely creepy!
The others included Ramona from New York's walk down the runway, Kim G of New Jersey's butt crack on the stripper pole and also from New Jersey, Danielle's revealing her breasts to a plastic surgeon with the crackerjack WWHL crew putting photos of Dina's ugly cat Grandma Wrinkles face
over each breast.  I didn't find that funny when they did it the first time and it was even less funny tonight.
Adding to the fun was Lisa's dog being dressed in several different Halloween costumes throughout the broadcast, opening the show as a hot dog then changing into a panda, a bumble bee and finally Teresa Giudice.  That dog is way too cute to ever be mistaken for Teresa Giudice.  The little dog really did look like he'd been drugged, no matter what they did to him, he fell right back to sleep on his mama's lap.
I'm not sure why Nate was there, he definitely took a back seat to Lisa and her little dog but he was asked about who's decor he liked best out of the New York ladies.  Before choosing his favorite, he immediately said, "NOT Jill's!"  Which I found hysterical!  The only ones who do like Jill's decor is Jill and her gay BFF, Brad...whatever happened to Brad?  Do you suppose he's locked in the basement of
Zarin Fabrics wading through all her freebies?  With Andy's prodding, Nate chose Luann's decor as his favorite.
Andy's Mazel and Jackhole of the week get more ridiculous every week, he chose an author of a book he just read for his Mazel, and an old TV show, Good Times as his jackhole, why?  Who knows, he talks about the fact that they bound Janet Jackson's breasts for the show trying to keep her looking younger.  I'm sure that wasn't the first or last time that happened.  He really needs to put more thought into these or lose them altogether!
Maybe we just don't know the Beverly Hills housewives well enough yet but there aren't really too many questions that needed to be asked yet so we got some lame ones about how she knows Latoya Jackson and how she can be so rich by owning just two restaurants.   Nothing of much interest.
Lisa explained that there is more to her investments than just the two current restaurants she owns and even Andy wanted more information on Lisa's wealth.  She also explained that Latoya Jackson is a frequent guest to her restaurant and that Kyle and Kim Richards grew up being friends with the Jackson family.
That being said, Lisa did make a good guest, she was fun and open but I have to say that Nate added very little causing me to wonder why he was even there.  ________________________________________________________________
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills
I found the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills episode a lot of fun but it was sad watching Kim alone
in her hotel room and even felt a bit sad for Taylor watching her face as her husband informed her he'd be spending a portion of their weekend working.
If we learn anything from the Beverly Hills ladies, it is that money certainly can't buy you happiness as the only two couples that seem completely happy is Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump.
Complete recap on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will be posted tomorrow.

Jill Zarin just can't stay out of the news, her latest fiasco
posted by The Smoking Gun:
We’re not sure what’s more troubling:
That a public university pays “Real Housewife” Jill Zarin $15,000 to address
collegians, or that she is referred to as “artist” in her appearance contract.

The "Real Housewives of New York" cast member appeared before a tiny crowd last
month at the University of South Florida to talk about who knows what and sign
copies of her book “Secrets of a Jewish Mother” (currently Amazon ranking:
284,686). Zarin’s appearance contract, excerpted above, guaranteed her the 15 grand,
accommodations in a hotel suite, and a $100 per diem. Airfare for the
46-year-old Zarin (whose corporate alter ego is "JBZ Enterprises,
LLC") was also covered by the school.
By comparison, Meghan McCain, daughter
of Senator John McCain, only banked $11,300 for a USF “lecture” last Wednesday.
Next month, the school is shelling out $15,000 for comedian/”Daily Show”
contributor Aasif Mandvi to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the “REAL Fake
News.”
At least had we heard that Zarin donated this money to charity, it would have been a bit more acceptable but wouldn't this money be better spent by the university helping students who need help paying for their education?

LynnNChicago Is Jill Zarin a Bully?

LynnNChicago   More Bullying News /Housewives Updates   Wed Oct 27, 2010
Bullying seems to be the hot topic right now all over the internet.  Jill Zarin took a lot of heat for turning this entire crisis into her attempt to get people to stop criticizing her.  Jill either got a scolding from her publicist or realized how ridiculous she sounded all on her own but she's backing off her original take on the subject.  Our little Jill may be growing up.
Yesterday I wrote a blog criticizing Jill Zarin for her selfish behavior and trying to turn this horrible tragic problem into her own personal opportunity to get sympathy for being called out on her own horrible behavior and even bullying of Bethenny Frankel on The Real Housewives of New York last season.
I felt the need to follow up due to Jill's change of heart in how she is responding to this issue.
Finally seeming to realize what this is all about, Jill released her very own story, you can read it here:
I love that it is on a site that says, "Hollywood only smaller stars".  (snicker)
I have to give Jill Zarin kudos for admitting to having been bullied in school, sharing her story and advocating that parents get involved when children are being bullied.
It's interesting because back in the days as Jill was growing up, many parents felt that getting involved was the worst thing that they could do.   Generally many parents thought that not only did they need to force their children to stand up for themselves but also were concerned that their interference could actually make it worse for their child when they were once again alone on the playground.  Parents knew that they could not protect their child forever or in every situation and thought trial by fire was necessary.
This old fashioned theory may have made some sense at the time, it is hard to really know what the results were of this way of thinking.
Jill describes her first experience at being bullied in first or second grade and she recalls children throwing rocks at her.  We don't get many details from Jill on this incident but typically first or second graders are very rarely alone without adult supervision.  That being said I can certainly see why something like this would be engraved in her brain, a six-year old having the other kids throwing rocks at them could be traumatic.
We get a bit more detail on her second description of being bullied but I still think that there must be some missing information.  Jill describes two girls who emotionally bullied her by repeatedly calling her house and hanging up.  She goes on to say that the only thing that finally put an end to the calls was being separated from these girls in different class.  Typically bullies aren't happy unless they're getting some reaction and while the calling/hanging up thing may have been fun for the bullies for a bit, I would imagine they'd get tired of it fairly quickly.  I think there may be much more to this story but there is no point in speculating, Jill has chosen to keep some of the details to herself and that is her option.
Jill did tell us that things improved for her when she got involved in figure skating as it gave her added confidence to deal with whatever was thrown her way.   Jill added that she made no friends through figure skating which I found extremely odd.  In any case, this is another really great suggestion for parents of bullying victims as Jill explains extracurricular activities are an outstanding way for children to not only gain confidence but team sports can also allow children to feel as though they belong.
I completely respect Jill for trying to correct her wrong and put this information out there for people to read.  I hope that her fanatical, insane, over-the-top supporters will understand what Jill's doing in providing this information.  She's righting a wrong, she realized that she had made this very real issue into something selfish and personal and so she is reaching out with her own personal story in the only way that she can relate.
Jill knows that she would be foolish to try to relate any of her own life experiences to that of young gay people who are being terrorized so she did the next best thing and she took her own experiences and is encouraging parents to get involved.  This is a good message to parents.  With so many working parents who may be really busy, it never hurts to remind them that parents need to really pay attention to subtle changes in their children's behavior or demeanor that could result from being bullied at school.    Parents can't always stay out of it in hopes that their child will learn to fight their own battles or out of concern that things will get worse for their child if they try to intervene, parents have got to get involved.
Jill's message is a good one and I hope that she'll continue to try to do the right thing, if she must relate absolutely everything back to herself, I hope that she at least tries to use it to help others and to give solid advice as she has done here.  She does lose a few points for the photograph of herself holding up her damn book, but at least she didn't tell parents that the key to solving the bullying problem is in the book.
There were rumors last year that Jill was unpopular in school, had no friends and had trouble getting along with others while growing up.  That is not something that I would wish on anyone.  Whenever I hear of someone who was not invited to their prom or had no friends in school it breaks my heart, truly.  It makes me want to go back to high school and seek out those kids and be-friend them, but unfortunately wisdom comes with age and while I never bullied anyone, I did have my own group of friends and boyfriend's going through school without much thought about anyone outside my group who may not have had any friends.  It wasn't something that we thought about or was brought to our attention.  Luckily bullying wasn't a part of my childhood or teen years at all, if it went on in my school, I wasn't aware of it.  It isn't something that kids think about if it isn't a part of their lives.
Now I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, I still cannot stand Jill Zarin, I continue to remember all of the hateful, horrible things that she did on The Real Housewives of New York.  As far back as I can remember on this show, Jill has been vicious and mean.
Who remembers when Simon VanKempen gave a quote to the newspapers saying, "Jill is from Long Island and it shows".  A little dig?  Maybe but not vicious, I've never been to Long Island, is that a bad place to be associated with?  I doubt it!
Jill's response was quick and vicious, she didn't just dig a little bit back, she came all out and attacked like a wild woman.  Her quote talked about Simon drinking excessively and just as Alex explained at the reunion, Jill doesn't just give tit for tat, she attacks people's livelihood and families with hurtful and mean intent.
Jill screeching at the reunion to Alex about her nude photos, "spread eagle in the hallway of your husband's hotel" was a clear attempt at hurting not only Alex but Simon's career.  This follows suit with Jill's most recent suggestion that she wants to start calling people's employers if they're mean to her on Twitter.  This woman is just mean but maybe, Jill's most recent disclosure about her childhood could be one of the reasons why she's such a cruel woman.  It would also explain why she befriends "the underdog" or people who she feels that she can help in some way.  This gives her control, makes her the popular one and provides a marker for her to collect later on ensuring that people won't leave her and she won't be alone the way she was back in school.  It would help her to feel in control and in a way she's buying friendships.
In the case of Bethenny, this didn't work for Jill because Bethenny became bigger and more popular than Jill, she's also extremely strong willed and wasn't going to be controlled by Jill.  They did seem to genuinely care about one another, unfortunately Jill's brand of friendship and the fact that it comes with a price tag didn't allow Bethenny to continue with the relationship.
Is Jill Zarin a bully?  She can be, we've seen her bully Alex, Simon, Ramona and even Bethenny.  Do people on the Social Networks bully Zarin?  I don't think so, I think they give their opinion of her behavior, they don't like her and they tell her why.  Jill is a public figure, she put herself on television and must take the good with the bad.  She has fans and she has people who simply do not like her.  Television is driven by popularity, in Zarin's case apparently Bravo felt that there were enough people who love to hate her to warrant her continuing to be a member of the cast.
I just hope that Jill learned some things from last season and is trying to be a better person as she claims.  The reunion show did nothing to improve her image as her apologies seemed insincere and in the end she attacked Alex showing viewers that nothing had changed.  Her final ultimatum to Bravo stating that she wouldn't be able to do the show if Alex was returning showed that she still had no qualms about hurting people's careers for no reason.
Had Jill acted differently at the reunion, had she given sincere apologies, had she not attacked Alex and threatened to leave the show if Alex returned, Jill might have had a fighting chance to regain Bethenny's friendship.  If Jill had shown real signs of changing at that reunion, things may have been different today.  Bethenny is smart and while she watched and listened as Jill claimed to have changed and apologized to Bethenny, Bethenny also watched Jill attack Alex proving to everyone that no change was evident.
My message to Jill Zarin:  I think you still have an opportunity to do the right thing, I think you can change if you really truly try.  I think as you film this season of The Real Housewives of New York you should really try to be kind to your cast mates, support and encourage them, and when it is appropriate, fade into the background and let them have the spotlight.  As you interview with Bravo producers imagine that your cast mates are sitting right in front of you and be sure that what you say on camera, you're also willing to say to their faces.  You will be surprised at how quickly you can gain back fans who've left you in droves last season.
It is easy to say that you've changed but actions speak louder than words.

LynnNChicago Housewives and Bullies Oct 25, 2010

LynnNChicago                   Let's look at REAL Bullies!             October 25, 2010
Kelly Bensimon didn't start the bullying discussion because I think any rational thinking human  being will agree that this woman was never bullied on The Real Housewives of New York last season.  I would even go so far as to call her a bully given the horrible things that she said to a pregnant Bethenny Frankel, having just buried her father and enduring a high risk pregnancy, Kelly's comments calling her a ho-bag and calling her various names, then interviewing with a huge smile on her face reminding viewers that she called Bethenny a ho-bag was a close to bullying an adult as you can get.
I don't know what the "official" definition of bullying is and I think that regardless of what Webster's says in its pages, the definition can be interpreted in many different ways.  Like the Bible verses and the Constitution of the United States, people will view words and phrases in many different ways, whether they're trying to shape these words into what they want to believe the meaning originally was or to justify their behavior or beliefs, clearly everyone thinks differently about the word "Bully".
Traditionally when you hear the word "Bully" you think of the big kid on the playground who is hitting up a smaller more timid child for their lunch money.  Sometimes there is violence involved, sometimes it is purely verbal intimidation or the fear of violence, but in all cases with that traditional definition of a bully, violence always seems to be associated with the bully.
The phrase, "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" also comes to mind and while the first part is true, the second part is questionable.  We always hope it's true, especially for those of us who have children, we hope that names that kids call each other won't hurt but I think we know that words from specific sources absolutely can hurt.  A kid calling another kid "stupid" usually means little to nothing to a child but a teacher or a parent calling a child "stupid" can really cut like a knife.
Children to become physically violent with other children are clearly bullies and kids who lash out by beating up smaller and weaker kids is heartbreaking for parents.  Loving, caring parents can even result in their child being a bully but hopefully can work on correcting that behavior.  Unfortunately there are some parents out there who either don't care or have raised their children with some mixed up signals and created this mess, yet remain ignorant to what their child has become.
While children bullying other children is a concerning issue that has been going on for decades and can affect children going into adulthood as they carry that humiliation on with them throughout their lives.
Teens bullying teens becomes even more tragic as they are cruel and vicious in some instances causing the victim to take drastic action to end their pain.  Most recent news reports of gay teens  being bullied just breaks my heart.  These kids already have so much to deal with, they're trying to figure out who they are, they may or may not have the support of their family and friends and they may even not know who they can talk to and who they have to hide from.  This country has certainly become more tolerant of different lifestyles, but we're certainly not all the way there yet and teens are so vulnerable under any circumstances.
Imagine feeling this way and going through all of this turmoil, in addition to the normal tough times that teens face with the stress and expectations of school, sports and social activities.  On top of all of that, they go out into the world minding their own business and are attacked on the street by a group of ignorant vicious teens who have no compassion or empathy at all.
Ladies and Gentlemen, these things are bullying, these things are what we must fight against, these things are what need to be brought to the forefront and stopped immediately.  These bullies are the ones who we must focus on, who we must ensure are held accountable for their actions regardless of their age.
We must not get sidetracked, we can't look at a negative tweet to a unpopular celebrity as bullying, we just can't!  The word "bully" has been so over-used and so abused that people like Jill Zarin and Dina Manzo are trying to equate what they deal with on Twitter to what these kids go through.  These kids can't click "block" and make this unpleasantness go away.  They can't go shopping to make themselves feel better, they can't spend money like water buying people's admiration.
These kids didn't accept a significant amount of money to appear on television and put their lives out there, they didn't ask to be held up to public opinion.  They were simply living their lives and they were physically or verbally attacked with viciousness.
The Housewives not only use this public forum and awareness to their own benefit but they are recruiting other young and vulnerable fans to fight their battles for them, it is completely out of hand and has become a ridiculous farce!
Housewives ....some people like you, some people don't.  Deal with it!

LynnNChicago Watch What Happens Live Oct 23, 2010

LynnNChicago                   Watch What Happens Live  Air Date:  Oct 21, 2010
Host:  Andy Cohen, Bravo Executive
Guests:  Hoda Kotb, Today Show
              Patti Stanger, Millionaire Matchmaker
As most of you know, I absolutely detest Patti Stanger and found it difficult to watch this show with her horrible butt parked in one of Andy Cohen's chairs but my admiration for Hoda Kotb won out and I watched.
Like Jill Zarin there are two faces of Patti Stanger, the well behaved and professional Stanger that appears on Watch What Happens Live with her boss Andy Cohen.  Then there is the real Stanger, the one who appears in a You-Tube video with mistress Kim Zolciak of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, lunching in Los Angeles.  For those who haven't seen this video or can't stomach it, Stanger is shown on her cell phone with Jill Zarin discussing Bethenny Frankel's new show and saying, "she's not a friend" as well as calling Bethenny a "C-U-Next Tuesday".  Stanger inserts her foot into her mouth by telling the camera the in's and out's of how television pilot's work and that Bethenny's show is certainly not anywhere near to being produced at this point.  When Patti says she wishes Bethenny all the best, Kim questions that statement and Stanger ensures everyone that she was being sarcastic.  This 6+ minute video is a complete embarrassment for Stanger and doesn't do much for Zolciak either but big mouth Stanger definitely comes off worse in the end.
In case anyone hasn't seen the You-Tube fiasco, Stanger insures everyone knows her stance on Bethenny by tweeting nasty items asking fans why they're all on Team-Bethenny and her famous line, "any cow can give birth".  For months fans have wanted someone to confront Patti Stanger and finally, Cohen asks the question repeating the horrible line about a cow giving birth.
I loved how Stanger tries to talk over Andy's words in hopes no one will hear but instead forcing him to repeat "any cow can give birth" twice to ensure the question is complete.  Even Hoda asks Patti, "did you really say that?"  The cowardly Stanger back peddles and goes into the garbage that we all know is an extreme exaggeration of Jill's accusations that Jill gave Bethenny a roof over her head and food to eat implying that Bethenny was destitute and homeless.
This is another instance where a Bravolebrity tries to act as though the viewers are idiots.  We all know that Jill's statement of how much she helped Bethenny that summer was just to try to make Bethenny look bad and was an extreme stretch of the truth.  Apparently Stanger didn't watch the Real Housewives of New York reunion show and failed to keep up with Jill's latest apologies.
Stanger then says that she used to be friends with Bethenny adding, "you know that, Andy" as Cohen mumbles, "no, I didn't know that".   So it appears that Stanger's only issue with Bethenny was Jill and Bethenny's argument.  As Patti wanted to confirm her place on Team Jill, which could have easily been done without bashing Bethenny, the brash and disgusting Stanger takes it way too far and although she has no personal issues with Bethenny, Patti Stanger goes postal on Bethenny for no reason.
Hoda is clearly disgusted with Stanger and praises Bethenny, confirms that they're good friends and that attending Bethenny's wedding was incredible.  Patti jumps in saying how beautiful the wedding was and how great Bethenny's husband Jason is all in an attempt to right her wrong but I wasn't buying a word of it.  Just as Jill says one thing and her actions contradict her words, Stanger is cut from the same cloth and lies to try to improve her reputation and gain back fans that she's lost.  I'm honestly surprised that Stanger even admitted to watching Bethenny's show.
I would have respected Patti Stanger a whole lot more if she'd just said that she's not a fan of Bethenny's and while she realizes her words and her tweets went too far, that is how she felt at the moment, annoyed that Bethenny had hurt her friend Jill, she lashed out.  Stanger is a coward and I refuse to watch her show, besides her unprovoked attack on Bethenny, the entire premise of the show is absurd!  I plan on somehow finding the results of her "matches" each week this season and keeping score to see how close she is to her 98% success rate that she's now changed to a "high" success rate.
If this woman was so successful in creating love matches, wouldn't we see more follow up segments on her show, or possibly even a wedding that she is responsible for creating?  How many times has Stanger said she is going to dance at someone's wedding, yet her dancing shoes remain in her closet gathering cobwebs.
Stanger furthers her reputation for being a piece of garbage by choosing to slam her ex-fiance telling us that not only did they grow apart but he hated the entertainment business, decided to punish Bravo by signing on to appear on Tori and Dean but had to also throw in that he liked the "free money train".  Once again, Stanger opens mouth and inserts foot really only making herself look bad by slamming this man that she was once engaged to marry.
Hoda was a gracious guest who was on the show to promote her book but took her humiliation of stooping to this particular show as well as could be expected.  I would bet that had Bravo and NBC not been affiliated, Hoda would not be sitting in that chair.  I did enjoy the little bit of Kathie Lee banter and even bashing throughout but as always, Cohen's ego wouldn't let him move forward without showing a little montage of himself appearing on Hoda's show and the odd interaction between him and Kathie Lee.
I also loved that Andy called Patti Stanger, Patti Lee as it seemed to imply that Stanger was second fiddle to Hoda, as it should be!  Cohen pushed both ladies books, even the moldy old Stanger offering that was released years ago, so if you purchase a copy and it's a bit dusty, don't worry about it.
For some reason Andy thought that we needed Stanger's insight into the demise of the marriage between Orange County housewife Vicki and her husband Donn.  Stanger feels that the divorce is the result of Vicki making more money than Donn and threw in there an accusation of Donn's excessive drinking.   Stanger fuels the fire of rumors and gossip having no real confirmation of any of this.
Both guests are asked who they feel is the hottest Housewives' husband, Stanger (as if we care what she thinks) chooses Rich Amons, husband of DC Housewife Mary and Hoda is quick to choose Bethenny's husband, Jason.  Both great choices!  Personally I think the hottest of the hot is still Cat's soon-to-be ex husband Charles.
I can tolerate just about anything for 30-minutes and Hoda made the show watchable, the after show was released on Bravotv.com and can be seen here:
Thankfully Hoda showed absolutely no interest in Stanger helping her find a man, but graciously declined.
Cohen had tweeted earlier in the day that he did not have a "Jackhole of the Week" and many suggestions were tweeted back to him but while the overwhelming vote was for Jill Zarin to get the Jackhole, he chose Clarence Thomas' wife Jenny for "drunk dialing" Anita Hill demanding an apology for the fiasco that happened 14+ years ago.
This week's poll asked which Beverly Hills Housewife you would rather have as a sister, Kyle or Kim Richardson.  Kyle = 70% and Kim = 30%, no surprise there as Andy reads a tweet he received from Kyle expressing her displeasure with this poll.

I Hate Jill Zarin Real Housewives of DC Reunion Part II

I Hate Jill Zarin   Real Housewives of DC Reunion Part II   Oct 22, 2010
Lynda lost her argument and Andy Cohen brought Tariq Salahi to the couch next to his wife Michaele without any of the other men being included.  His presence alone seemed to intensify the tension on the set.   His first comment was that he was disappointed in the cast for doubting that his wife suffered from Multiple Sclerosis, this couple refuses to acknowledge that many people are doubting every word that comes out of their mouths.
Roll the footage, we watch as all of the rest of the cast talk about the Salahi's financial problems and how word has spread through Washington DC about just how many bills and responsibilities they've ignored.  Tariq is the king of talking in circles and when asked about bankruptcy, he throws out two different names for Oasis Winery then doesn't answer about his own personal bankruptcy.
Tariq Salahi gets angry and raises his voice the first of many times as Stacie tries to simply tell this man, "respectable people pay their bills, period."   He doesn't want to hear any of it, he insists on telling everyone he simply can't pay his bills because once you've filed bankruptcy, you're not allowed to pay any creditors.  Yet that didn't answer Lynda's question as to why he bought his wife a 7-carat diamond bracelet when they were clearly having financial problems.  When Michaele can't take the questions anymore, she deflects, this time she blurts out, "why is everyone interested in our finances, why not talk about everyone else's finances?"  Well Michaele, none of them are accused of failure to pay for their wedding flowers among many other things!
Andy rolls the clip of the audition tape of Michaele Salahi giving a tour of her home, we learn that this is not their home, never was their home and according to Stacie Turner, this couple does not own any home as there is no deed recorded in their name anywhere.   They lied to Bravo in this audition tape and while viewers typically saw them in hotel rooms rather than in any home, they did tell viewers that they owned a large home on or near Oasis Winery.  When pushed on the issue of owning a home, Michaele screams at Cat, "I heard you were living in Lynda's basement".  Wow!  I love that Lynda yelled right back at her, "I don't have a basement".  Moving on as Andy kept saying, "we're not going to resolve this".
That is how this couple handled everything that was thrown at them, when faced with legitimate questions that people really want to hear the answer to, they deflect back to other housewives or they respond to a completely different question or they just talk in circles.  Not one straight answer from these people was forthcoming.  They may have well have spent the reunion filming recited their "On the advice of my attorney, I respectfully invoke my right to plead the 5th...."  blah blah.
After a break, The DC Housewives returned joined by the remaining three men, Ebong who is Lynda's boyfriend (were you watching Ebong? Don't propose marriage, whatever you do!)  Stacie's husband Jason and Mary's personality, er husband Rich.
While their finances were still on the table to discuss, the house search with Realtor Stacie Turner came up, Tariq Salahi says, "Stacie never sent us an email asking for a letter of credit."  Stacie had taken the time to research and drive by homes for this couple who clearly don't have the money to pay for a double wide trailer, much less a home.  We all watched on screen as Stacie told them in person that she needed their financials from their banker or a letter of credit, yet she received nothing.  The Salahi's didn't apologize for wasting Stacie's time and she let them off the hook by saying, "its fine, it's just fine".
The couple were then asked about the Birthday party for Paul Wharton that they had hosted and we watched during the first part of the season.  They never explained the phone call from their attorney to Wharton's camp demanding a letter in writing stating that they would not be responsible for the cost of the party.  They continued to insist that they provided all of the wine for the event, while all the other housewives told us they were not served any Oasis wine at the party.
Moving on with the Salahi show, the night that Tariq Salahi accused Mary's daughter Lolly of being involved in the theft of a vehicle and some gear from his Polo club was shown in a flashback.  Salahi slurs his accusations "everybody's going to jail".  It didn't come up that this incident was two years prior as Bravo doesn't like to reveal timelines, they prefer to edit events into their very own series of events.  Tariq pulls out a printout of a Facebook page showing Lolly's comment, she simply asks someone if they wore a particular hat to some club.  It was never really explained to the viewers but we assume that this hat that Lolly commented on was one of the stolen items that Tariq was referring to.
Rich Amons, clearly upset by this incident has to actually get Tariq's attention as while Rich is talking to him, Tariq's focus is on Andy Cohen.  Rich even provides Salahi with an "out" and asks him to just simply say you drank too much and apologize.  Your normal human being would have jumped on that but not this double talker, he sticks to, "IF Lolly wasn't involved, then I apologize".  He just won't admit that Lolly Amons was not in any way involved in this theft.  No one pushed Salahi about his reference to the FBI investigating Lolly Amons or any of his other wild accusations and no resolution was provided.
I did notice that at one point the editing was poor but Mary Amons was allowed to state for the record that her daughter was not in any way involved in this crime, it was odd because you could hear other noise and other people talking in low voices in the background but Mary's voice as she defended her daughter and attempted to clear her name was the only one you could decipher.  Very poor editing but my guess is that it was Bravo's attempt to ensure no lawsuits in the future by allowing Mary to have her say.
The two incidents of White House Gate Crashing ....ok "Alleged" gate crashing were discussed and once again this couple continued to lie and lie and deflect and avoid giving straight answers.  They wouldn't even give a yes or no answer to a simple question, "did you have four tickets to the Congressional Black Caucus Dinner?"  If you recall, this couple brought the hair salon guy and his husband along with them to this dinner claiming to have four tickets.  Viewers were later told that they snuck in the back door where they saw a busboy walking out.  It was reported that they were asked to leave the event by security and that they really only had a ticket that admitted one to the event.
Stacie gave it a good shot by trying to insist that they give a flat "yes" or "no" response to the question of whether or not they held four tickets in their hand but Stacie Turner is no match for this talented couple who are experts in avoiding straight answers and talking in circles.  Stacie gave it a good shot pushing them but nothing doing Stacie!  If congress can't get them to answer a question, what makes you think you can?
Andy Cohen did his homework for this reunion and was prepared with a statement from the Communications Director of the Black Caucus who indicated in no uncertain terms that the Salahi's were not invited and did not at any time hold four tickets to this event.  This means that the two guys who joined the gate crashers and the Communications Director were all lying, yet the Salahi's still don't even admit to having legitimate tickets.   If anyone watching still supports these two sad excuses for human beings, they're not paying close enough attention.
If that weren't enough the discussion turned to the worldwide news event that caused even Congress to investigate.  Once again, Cohen was prepared with some emails that were released between the Salahi's and the White House Secretary.  Andy reads as this woman tells Tariq and Michaele that she is trying to get them in but the latest email indicated it wasn't looking good as the venue for the reception was moved indoors due to the weather, causing the guest list to be restricted.
The Salahi's were never issued a written invitation, they were never asked why they said that they had one then later admitted it was all through emails that they communicated with the White House about attending this event.  They answered with a simple, "I don't know" when asked why they weren't on the guest list at the first checkpoint and they talked again, in circles, about the two different parts of the event, the reception and the dinner were apparently two different events requiring two different invitations.
Now the Salahi's are claiming that the reception was never in question and that they always had a clear invite to that first part of the event, they were only unsure of the dinner portion of the evening but Michaele did her homework as well and most likely read in the social section of the Washington Post that the Obama's served Lentil soup as a first course.  This is all just another way to deflect and flat out lie about what happened that night.  There is no doubt in my mind after watching them avoiding direct questions that they were never invited, they crashed that dinner and they were asked to leave once it was determined that they did not belong there.
Not willing to admit that they were booted out of the White House, Andy asked them why then, did they leave early without partaking in the fine meal served.  Michaele said, "because they were serving lentil soup".  Laughter ensues and then she changes her story to reveal that she wasn't feeling well forcing them to leave early.  No one believes a word of that, the Salahi's left the White House and were seen at a local club partying the rest of the night away then at approximately 1:30am Michaele posted photos from the White House bash on her Facebook page.
Let's face it, no one leaves an event like that early on their own accord unless they're bleeding out of their eyes.   Honestly for all the answers that we got from this reunion about this incident, this couple may have well just repeated their statement that they made in front of Congress, plead the 5th.
Andy's only goal seemed to be that the Salahi's admitted that it wasn't a publicity stunt for Bravo or a way for them to secure a place on The Real Housewives of DC.   Cover your ass Cohen!  What the Salahi's did not admit was that their reason for not answering questions in front of Congress was because they were forbidden to do so by Bravo's contract.  Tariq Salahi did admit for the first time that he was allowed to answer "some" questions but was advised not to by their attorney, and Michaele added that the White House instructed them to plead the 5th.  HUH?  Where were the follow up questions to that statement?
This poor couple is still in limbo and their lives have been horribly affected as the case has not been resolved and remains an open investigation by Congress.  Don't you feel for them?  Personally, I think that Congress is afraid to close the case due to the public scrutiny but have reached a dead end and do not know what to do from here.  They will most likely leave the case open until years from now when no one cares anymore, they'll quietly close it and the Salahi's will get away scot free.   I would love to see them sharing a jail cell with Lynne and Frank Curtain and Teresa and Joe Giudice.
The Salahi's refuse to admit that their actions have hurt anyone else, they showed absolutely no remorse for causing White House employee's to lose their jobs, in fact failed to even acknowledge that anyone lost their jobs.  Didn't care about the hundreds of thousands of tax dollars spent to investigate this incident.  No regret about  how it negatively reflected on their cast mates.   They refused to take responsibility for Cat being uninvited to the White House Christmas party, Michaele even viciously implied that it was actually Cat's husband who refused to bring Cat along yet if that were true, I doubt the man would have brought his father-in-law to the party in Cat's place.
Mary brought up how the Salahi's "hijacked" their show and made it all about them.  While Mary is certainly correct, I'm not altogether sure that Mary was the right person to point that out, if the show had been all about Mary, we'd have all been sleeping through every episode.  Mary added little to the show.
The final incident discussed happened off screen during a press trip to Los Angeles California.  Everyone agrees that Tariq Salahi threw a glass of red wine in Lynda's face and Lynda also admits to throwing a glass of water in return.  The argument ensued regarding the cause of the face full of wine.  Salahi insists that he did it to protect his wife who's MS causes not only emotional issues but physically affects her health.  Lynda, Mary and Cat had entirely different stories to tell and even claimed that Tariq shoved his wife just before tossing the wine at Lynda.  Andy Cohen chimed in that he heard that Tariq shoved Michaele as well.  Most likely Bravo people were along on this press tour and provided Andy with this information.  I really would have liked for someone to ask Tariq Salahi how exactly throwing wine in someone's face protects his wife?   Sigh...no one asked him that.
The ladies each had a final word about how they felt about being Bravo Housewives and while nothing shocking came out at that point, I was a little surprised that Stacie said she had a blast and even told Michaele that she enjoyed their time together.  I guess Stacie hadn't been listening previously as we learned what a piece of garbage Michaele Salahi is, the worst of which could possibly be lying about having a horrible illness.  Could Stacie have gotten bored and switched on her IPod while the reunion was being filmed?
Stacie added that she was thrilled to have found her birth father during the filming yet that would most likely have happened with or without Bravo's cameras, Cat told us that while it was a difficult end to her marriage, she is a survivor and will be just fine.  Lynda and Mary added nothing new and Michaele told viewers that she would consider posing for Playboy, but is getting nothing from the book that Diane Diamond wrote about her and her husband.
I found that interesting because reports are flying around the internet that Diane Diamond is supporting this couple, giving them money to live on and to maintain their extravagant lifestyle while composing the book and now while touring to promote the book.  Obviously Diane, Michaele and Tariq have not confirmed this information, we watched the Salahi's discuss a book deal with another individual during the season of the show and they clearly had no intention of cooperating in a book about their antics without getting paid.  Michaele Salahi's statement that she is not getting any money from the sale of the book could be true, the Salahi's could have already gotten paid a lump sum just to provide their story.
This couple has a gift of making a statement and simply by changing one or two words in their sentence, they can actually lie without really lying, you know what I mean?
Bravo also aired a new episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Watch What Happens Live with Hoda Kotb and the horrible Patti Stanger, blogs on those two shows coming tomorrow.
On a personal note I wanted to share with everyone some great news for me.  After I was interviewed about my blog for an internet radio program, they have offered me my own radio show!  It is very exciting and I've recorded my first 30-minute show that is now being edited.  As soon as it is released, I'll post the link so that you can all listen.  We'll be doing it weekly and hope to have some guests on the show from Housewives to fans of the show, readers and posters on the blog as well!
The producers have even created a logo for my show, you can see all of the details here:

Thank you to everyone who have sent their well wishes, I'm very excited and I hope you'll all listen in each week.  We are always looking for sponsors / advertisers for the show, if you're interested, it is very inexpensive and you can email me for details at LynnAHudson@aol.com

LynnNChicago Monday Monday, Can't Trust That Day...

I Hate Jill Zarin
Patti Stanger's Millionaire Matchmaker debuts its new season tomorrow tonight and I really am predicting her ratings have plummeted after her vicious attack on Bethenny Frankel.  Stanger was relentless with her nasty comments and vile language.  Stanger tweeted that she couldn't understand why everyone was on Team Bethenny and included, "any cow and squeeze out a baby".
Patti also spoke her mind when having lunch with Kim Zolciak of The Real Housewives of Atlanta as they were clearly aware of the cameras filming their discussion, this immediately after the announcement that Bethenny Frankel will get her own show on Bravo:
Listen as Patti Stanger is on the phone, you will hear Stanger call Bethenny a "C U Next Tuesday" while talking on the phone with Jill Zarin about Bethenny's new show, hearing from Zarin that Bethenny's been replaced by Sonja Morgan (which we know did not happen) followed by Stanger's brilliant insight into how television pilot's work and how likely it is that Bethenny's show will fail.  The genius Kim Zolciak adds her two cents, "She's a bitch" referring to Bethenny.  Time to eat those words Stanger!
Stanger's now ex-employee Chelsea speaks out about the real Patti Stanger:
I just cannot see how Millionaire Matchmaker can have any fans left, the way that Stanger treats the ladies on the show coupled with how she belittles and badgers her clients, it is truly unbearable to watch.  Stanger's voice and the way that she screams and verbally abuses people is absolutely ridiculous.

I wanted to talk a little bit about Twitter, the Housewives and other Bravo cast members use Twitter to keep in touch with fans, promote their wares and television appearances as well as to keep themselves relevant during their "off" season.
Twitter can be a good judge of popularity, based on each of the housewives followers, you can get a good idea of their fan base.  Obviously not all Bravo viewers use Twitter, but it seems the housewives with the  biggest Twitter following are the more popular "Stars".  There is another factor, it seems as though Bravo strongly encourages the Housewives to maintain a Twitter account,  no one can force the ladies to use it.  Some Housewives prefer Facebook and post there frequently avoiding Twitter.
Smart Housewives combine their Twitter and Facebook accounts and can post something onto Facebook that will automatically Tweet the same post onto their Twitter account, thus killing two birds with one stone.  That alone isn't enough, however, fans are looking for some interaction between the Housewives and real people.
The Real Housewives of DC are still working on getting a following, I can only see their Twitter followers falling drastically unless Bravo announces a season two of the series, here are the followers for the DC Ladies:
Cat - 1820
Lynda - 2205
Stacie - 2989
Michaele - 3635
Mary - 4560
With the exception of Michaele, the DC housewives are pretty good at responding to and even following some fans.  Michaele follows only four people on Twitter and speaks to no one.  The four that Michaele follows are 1.  Oasis Winery  2.  Attorney Lisa Bloom  3.  BravoTV  4.  Andy Cohen.  She tweets her public appearances and anything that will promote herself but not once has she ever tweeted directly to a fan.
The New York crew has had a lot of time to gain followers and without exception, these ladies talk to their fans:
Sonja - 26,000
Kelly - 41,000
Alex - 54,000
Ramona - 59,000
Jill - 96,000
Bethenny - 297,000
Obviously Bethenny has the largest following of any housewife on any franchise, not a surprise.  Bethenny also knows how to use Twitter to her best advantage.  She has a good variety of Tweets including responding to fans, funny tweets about her life and links to recipes on her web site.  No doubt that you're more likely to get a response from Bethenny if you mention her products, Skinnygirl Margarita's or one of her books or work out video but she sprinkles in responses to fans about various things.
If some of the other housewives would take a lesson from Bethenny, they would be able to get the best results from Twitter and from Facebook.  Bethenny has also mastered Facebook and she recognizes that many people use both applications.  Her Facebook and Twitter posts are not just copies of one another, she posts similar information but it is unique to each site.  It is possible that Julie is doing the Facebook posting but Bethenny's Tweets are all her own.
Some of you may remember my post about New York's wanna be housewife, Jennifer Gilbert.  Jen was new on Twitter and completely lost, not knowing what to do or who to talk to, she was sending private direct messages to fans when she clearly meant to tweet to these people publically.  She was asking for help as fans were telling her off for her improper use of direct messages, people could not respond because Jen wasn't following them.  At the time Jennifer was still campaigning to get more air time on Bravo's Real Housewives of New York.   I offered to help her after she sent me a direct message that I could not respond to because she wasn't following me.  She clicked the follow next to my name and we chatted for almost two hours privately.  She asked for help and I gave her a quick tour of how Twitter works, I also recommended that she read some of Bethenny's tweets and get an idea of how well she uses Twitter to her advantage.
Shortly thereafter, Jill got a hold of Jennifer Gilbert and I was unceremoniously unfollowed and ignored by Gilbert from that point on, coincidently she failed to become a full time New York housewife.
The most popular group of Housewives on Twitter (and in the Bravo ratings) are the Atlanta Housewives.  Their numbers are substantially higher than any of the other groups.  This could be partially because Atlanta fans use Twitter more than New York's fans and are more computer savvy, here are their numbers:
Phaedra - 7,800
Sheree - 57,000
Kim - 94,000
NeNe - 169,000
Kandi - 214,000
Kandi uses the internet perhaps the best of them all!  Kandi has an internet TV podcast that she produces weekly called Kandi Koated Nights and she has a "posse" that joins her for this fun and informative show.  It's no surprise that she maintains the highest number of followers of all the Atlanta ladies and of all Housewives on Twitter after Bethenny.
The Atlanta ladies are very interactive users on Twitter, they tweet interesting thing that are going on even sometimes giving hints on what's to come on their show, they respond to fans and most of the tweet while their show is airing.  That is always a big fan favorite.
New Jersey Housewives, as the second most popular housewives series have pretty good numbers
Danielle - 51,000
Jacqueline - 86,000
Caroline - 89,000
Dina - 89,000
Teresa - 120,000
Dina and Caroline are neck in neck in the battle of the Twitter popularity game, Dina has about 300 more followers than Caroline at the moment.
These New Jersey numbers are interesting because it is actually Jacqueline, Dina and Caroline who tweet the most, Teresa has gone days without saying a word on Twitter.  (right around the time that news of her Bankruptcy broke in the press)  Yet Teresa remains the most popular New Jersey Housewife.
Kim Granatell has 7,542 Twitter Followers and that number will most likely grow if she is made an official New Jersey Housewife.  Melissa Gorga, rumored to be the newest New Jersey housewife, sister-in-law to Teresa Giudice is very active on Twitter and currently has 1,485 followers and growing rapidly.
Teresa tweets ads and that would get a typical twitterer unfollowed faster than you can tweet that advertisement.  She tweets photos, public appearance information and does occasionally respond to fans.
I've covered Dina's Twitter style, she's an aggressive mean girl but likes to cowardly delete her mean tweets so that she will still appear as though she's a lovely charitable woman.
Caroline and Jacqueline have similar tweeting styles, they clearly want to respond to fans but are weary of including a direct tweet to a fan so they'll respond to someone's tweet/question but won't use that person's name in their tweet.  This so that it appears they are just providing information about a frequently asked question but are not having a personal discussion on Twitter with any one person.  This is a good strategy for Jac and Caroline because they avoid offending anyone.
Not surprisingly the Beverly Hills Housewives have some of the lower overall numbers of the Housewives series, yet still outshine DC.  With just one episode airing, I'm sure their numbers will grow as their season unfolds:
Taylor - 1,778
Adrienne - 1920
Lisa - 1,985
Camille - 2,047
Kim - 5,000
Kyle - 10,500
Just as a comparison, Kim and Kyle's niece Paris Hilton has 2.9 million followers.
As the longest running series, Orange County should have some pretty high numbers, but they don't.  With the exception of Gretchen, who is very active on Twitter, the Orange County ladies are much more active on Facebook and their Twitter numbers reflect how clearly they neglect Twitter:
Alexis - 13,000
Jeana - 19,000
Vicki - 25,000
Tamra - 41,500
Gretchen - 49,600
Lynne Curtain does not have a Twitter account, did not blog last season and is not to be found on Facebook.  Do you suppose her computer was repossessed?
We've watched as in a lot of cases the husbands of The Real Housewives and have gained a following of their own.
Simon VanKempen, husband of New York Housewife, Alex McCord is probably the most active husband on Twitter and has 25,000 followers.  In comparison Rich Amons, husband of DC housewife Mary has just 428 followers.  Rich's post on BravoTV.com has really gotten some great reviews, if you haven't read Rich's man rules, it's worth the read!
Alex and Simon have a great program combined with their Twitter that will automatically follow anyone who follows them, with many of the other Housewives, it is difficult to get a follow from them.  I've watched and been embarrassed for some fans who continually beg the Housewives to follow them on Twitter, the way I see it, if you're a fan of a particular housewife you can Tweet to them and they can respond whether or not they're following you.  That said, it does get some attention when a celebrity follows a "normal" person so there is a fine line between stalking a celebrity for a follow and chatting with them and asking for a follow.
Andy Cohen is active on Twitter and has 132,000 followers, Rachel Zoe has 284,000 followers, Jeff Lewis has 43,600 followers and Patti Stanger, 52,000.
Jeff Lewis never, ever tweets to fans, he merely uses Twitter to promote his activities and in fact was completely absent from Twitter during his off season.
Stanger will also never be caught tweeting directly to fans but tweets her promotional nonsense along with dating "tips" for women and pushes her on line dating site.  Does anyone else remember Stanger slamming on line dating sites as garbage during her first season of Millionaire Matchmaker?  I sure do!  Now that she has her very own on line dating site, apparently her opinion of them has changed.
Rachel Zoe has 284,000 followers, why?  I don't know.    She doesn't share any pearls of wisdom or provide any mind blowing information.
Tonight on Bravo - Real Housewives of Atlana and Thintervention with Jackie Warner.
